Póvoa de Varzim is a Portuguese city in Northern Portugal and sub-region of Greater Porto, 30 km from its city centre.  The town's main appeal is the beautiful long beach of gold sand and clear water.   The town has a historic centre and pleasant shopping streets.

Connected by metro Line B from the centre of Porto means you can easily visit the UNESCO world heritage listed city of Porto too!

The dress code for the symposium will be casual attire. Make sure to bring a coat for the cold and an umbrella in case of rain.

Currency

ATMs are found everywhere.  Many smaller stores only accept cash. Most restaurants accept credit cards, but we recommend you ask them in advance to avoid surprises.

Portugal uses the Euro € as its currency.

Electricity

For Portugal there are two associated plug types, types C and F. Plug type C is the plug which has two round pins and plug type F is the plug which has two round pins with two earth clips on the side. Portugal operates on a 230V supply voltage and 50Hz.
